Engine Oil Change

Hello all, I'm about to have an engine oil change for my 2010' FJ Cruiser. Should I go to the dealership for the service or should I go somewhere else? What would be a reasonable price for doing it (either US or CAD is okay)? Or if I do it myself, what brand of engine oil would you recommend? What would be the difference between using conventional mineral oil and synthetic oil? pros and cons for each? Advance appreciation to those who answer. Thanks :help:

I always do it myself and recommend a good synthetic oil like Royal Purple or AmsOil. The difference between mineral oil and synthetic is basically the usable life of the oil, wear protection, and anti friction properties. i'm no scientist so i can't explain to you why synthetic is better, but i suppose there's really no reason not to use it except for its price.

royal purple is expensive, $8/ qt. AmsOil is $7/qt and conventional is more like $4/qt. a reasonable price for a fully synthetic oil change is about $20 on top of material cost depending on which you choose.
