Hi. Why?

Hi.
I decided to check it out.
Looks pretty neato.

The following question is in no way meant to be smart-ass or anything negative. I am genuinely curious...

Why was this forum created when there is already another forum that has almost the same, exact purpose?

Again, not meant as a jab or a put-down or anything negative.

I did look around and tried to find a statement on this, but I don't see anything like this in the FAQ section or anywhere else....I may have just missed it.

Well, there are most definitely more than 2 fj cruiser forums. I couldn't really tell you 100% why this one was created, you'll have to ask the creators, but I do know a main factor is that the other forums tend to be very strict, and while yes there are some rules here, there are not many. So it is a lot more laid back. Welcome aboard.

Oh....what rules are they so strict about that it makes you want to go to a different forum?

I don't think I've ever encountered anything that would have that effect on me.

Again, that's just genuine curiosity.

Your question is a valid one but maybe you're uninformed as to what forums are for. This forum was created because despite what your feelings are, there are many members on the "other" forums who feel that their site has become over commercialized and over censored. This inevitably happens when you have greedy forum network owners who buy forums that were started by enthusiasts.

You won't have to deal with slow load times due to overbearing advertisements, aggressive staff/members and a list of rules that mirror a para-military correction facility.

Some members like to sift through a sea of stupid questions and senior members bashing on new members. Others, like myself, like to discuss the more enjoyable aspects of the FJ like off-roading, modifications and get-togethers. We have not set out to be "bigger" than anyone else...but we can certainly be better.

I guarantee you that if many of the members on "other" forums knew about our little slice of Al Gore's internet here, they would jump ship and join with the prospect of having a forum that caters to the members instead of how many advertisements a company can possibly stuff on 1 page or how many staff members with an agenda they can harbor.

I mean really, if this smiley doesn't sum it up, I don't know what will.

I totally understand about all the ads.....both the part about how they slow down the forum page loading, etc., and the part about not liking them being there in the first place. While I can understand how it could be justified from a business perspective, I totally respect your desire to have a forum where it's not happening.

The part I'm still totally baffled by is the part about all the rules. I don't recall ever butting up against any of them. Am I supposed to assume that the reason you don't like them is because you were constantly bumping up against them and getting called for it or something like that?

Again....that's not a poke.....I'm really just curious.....I just have never had any negative experiences with the rules on the Blue Room, and I'm really, genuinely curious about what it was the happened to you over there....must have been really annoying and frustrating.

I will hang out here a little bit and see what it's like though....I certainly can't reject the ideal utopia conjured up by your comments above :party28: :mexsmoke: :kiss1: :gathering:

Yikes, you guys have a lot of great smilies here.....including at least two that feature two people clanking beer mugs together
I might stick around for that alone if nothing else pans out lol

Either way, nice job....it's really looking nice.

Thanks, stick around and help us grow the forum with true enthusiasts. Forums aren't grown over night it takes time.

Welcome aboard man! Hope you like it. I stumbled across this by accident, and everyone here ha been great. It's a good bunch, who poke fun, mess around, and BS.

But for an amateur like me, new to FJ world, modifications and such, all have been helpful.

Rock on and enjoy! :headbang:
