285/75/16s and rims

OK, this is getting beyond frustrating ...

I'm doing a ton of homework. I know what I'd like to get for tires and rims ... what I don't know, is will I need a lift, a body mount chop or what ...

I'm currently on the stock 17" wheels, with 265/70/17s.

What I would like to get ...

Raceline Renegade 6 - black, 16x8
Falken Wild Peak AT 285/75/16 ...

Would I need a lift? If so, full 3" or only 2?
Body mount chop?

Will I need any other mods? Now, I know, some rim & tire combos fit without mods, some don't. Would I be okay getting the rims and tired, and test fit ... and if not, then try lift or spacers?

Thanks for any input! - VDW

FWIW....

I just put on 285/75/16's on my FJ.... I have an Old Man Emu lift. I don't think it's a very big lift (it was on when I bought it). It does not sit much higher than stock FJ's... barely noticeable.

I have zero rubbing issues (keep it clean guys).

Here's a pic or 2.

Nice! LOVE those rims! What kind are they?

I don't have room for too much lift, or vehicle won't fit in my garage .. LOL

And my wheel wells seem higher, in comparison to other FJs around where I am. But ground clearance doesn't appear to be any higher ... i measured underneath and it seems to be stock clearance numbers.

So, I'm not sure if it's been lifted or not. How could I check that?

Those are the same rims we were discussing in the other thread. I would like to change my previous statement though. The ones winterpeg has are the black TT wheels. The ones in the other thread are the exact same design but they look like they might be the gun metal ones. There were a few different colors. Black are the rare ones that are hard to find. Gunmetal are not too bad.
